The Ecohousing building system has already proven that it is well
suited for accommodation solutions in remote areas such as pilot accommodation
in the Torres Straits and on Horn island. It should also be noted that these
building have been built in areas prone to severe cyclones, the building system
is well suited to this as it has undergone and passed intensive cyclone
testing at the James Cook university, read more here.
Ecohousing
accommodation is not limited only to the mining sector and
remote areas but also has accommodation solutions that suit station properties,
backpackers and student accommodation etc.

Developers:
Large housing estates could be completed at a
faster rate when compared to standard housing as the houses comes ready to be
assembled and only requires minimal labour to erect the house. The house are
environmentally friendly, the product has a low embodied energy and uses very
little electricity for heating and cooling allowing them to marketed as “a green
alternative”. The building system also features well with an eco-village, as
demonstrated by Ecohousing at the World environment day in 2002.
The
houses can be finished in any way that the home owner desires; all houses come
with a cyclone rating from the James cook university with a very high fire
resistance. The advantage of the system for developers as stated is that
it is a fully insulted, completely structural, energy efficient & cyclone
rated system, no additional work is required to fulfil the BCA code requires as
the houses are already fully complied.
